Welcome to Skye For All

Skye For All is the brainchild of Sarah and Melanie, two friends living on the beautiful Isle of Skye.

Sarah & Melanie

Their aim is to reveal many places on Skye that people who are less mobile, not very fit or disabled can enjoy. They are aiming to document just how accessible Skye is For All. The Isle of Skye is not simply the dizzy heights of The Cuillin ridge or the photographic opportunities from roadside lay-bys. There really is something for everyone if you know where to look.

Sarah and Melanie want to bring you gentle walks and hidden gems, which will allow you to explore the island at your own pace. Along the way they will point out other facilities such as disabled toilets, cafes, restaurants and places of interest. All the while accessibility will be at the forefront of their minds. They will try to demonstrate how wheelchair users may enjoy some of the paths and tracks around the island as well as more mobile folks.

Walks are described in detail, highlighting important factors such as parking, accessibility, distance, terrain. They have also added their own personal experience of undertaking the walk. Visits to restaurants and cafes around Skye will highlight any accessibility issues both positive and negative. This blog is purely their personal findings and photos they have taken along the way, and should be used with your own best judgement. We also have a YouTube channel where we share with you what we get up to on our walks.

Currently all the walks are completed by Sarah with her stick and folding wheeled frame and her side kick Melanie. They roughly walk at Sarah’s pace of 1mph and will endeavour to tell you how suitable the paths and tracks are for all levels of ability including wheelchairs. These are only suggestions based on their findings and own abilities, it is up to you to decide if they are suitable for yourself.

Getting around Skye and Lochalsh without a car is very tricky but here are some links to public transport that may help:
Stagecoach Bus
Citylink Bus
ScotRail
